Hello, my name is Shirley McVay. I'm here as a parent of Barbra McVay. She has been a client of ARC for 40 years. My time frame is the last 20. She is a resident of Hacienda Group Home. Thanks to all who have been a part of her life those 20 years, our daughter has a full, happy, productive life. Also for timeless love and caring, Angie, and all the other staff through the years have helped to give her a wonderful life. The staff of the group home and the VSC have worked so hard to help her be a productive, happy member of the community. There were so many things experts said she'd never do; she has accomplished only through the hard work and loving care of so many through the years at these two facilities. Every change or new aspect of her life is always discussed with us openly. My heart is so full of gratitude for this agency and for the love, discipline, training, and normalcy our dear daughter would not have without all of them.

Long before Lisa began coming to the Vocational Services Center in 2002, my husband and I had been involved through our work and visited many times. Since the 1980's we were at the agency on a regular basis and enjoyed visiting and laughing with the staff. We had a chance to see the special care and attention each individual received and how much they enjoyed working with their staff workers. This gave us the extra reassurance we needed to know that Lisa would have a positive experience at the VSC.
Lisa always comes home and enjoys telling us about the fun experiences she has had during the day. She likes to help her peers and staff members. The staff members always make Lisa feel important and included in their work. They include her and she feels as if she's more than "just an employee".
The time spent at Area Residential Care is the highlight of her day. She is always happy when she talks about it and we know that the experience of being at the agency helps Lisa cope and overcome some of the challenges she faces on a daily basis.
